Social Media & Digital Communication for CSOs

The aim of the training is to introduce organisations to the contemporary role of Social Media and digital communication, with a focus on strategy, content creation, and performance analysis. Through practical approaches and real-life examples, the seminar supports organisations in strengthening their impact and managing their digital narratives in a safe and effective way.

The seminar combines theory, practical guidance, and hands-on application to the real needs of organisations, enabling participants to better understand how social media can be used as an active tool for awareness-raising, public engagement, and audience development.

10:15 – 11:00 | The Role & Use of Social Media for CSOs – Social Media Fundamentals
Introduction to the core functions of social media and how they can support awareness-raising and communication for Civil Society Organisations.
Understanding content formats, algorithms, and audience-building dynamics.
Establishing ethical frameworks and safe communication practices.

11:00 – 11:45 | Strategy Development & Content Creation
Structured methodology for developing an effective social media strategy.
Defining audiences, goals, and thematic content pillars.
Practical tips for producing meaningful, responsible, and engaging content that supports the organisation’s mission.

11:45 – 12:15 | Social Media Analysis & Optimisation
Understanding key performance indicators and using analytics for continuous improvement.
Discussion of common challenges and ways to adapt communication strategies.
Practical examples and data-driven approaches for increasing impact.

12:15 – 12:50 | Platforms: Strengths & Weaknesses
Overview of major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn).
Analysis of their characteristics and when each platform may be the most suitable choice for Civil Society Organisations.
Focus on storytelling, engagement, and audience segmentation.

12:50 – 13:00 | Conclusions & Q&A

PREVENT Programme

The programme “Preventing gender-based violence and violence against children” (PREVENT) aims to prevent and combat gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against children, by supporting Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) active in these fields, in Greece and Cyprus, and by increasing their knowledge, capacity and sustainability. PREVENT is co-funded by the European Union (90% funding rate), through the Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values (CERV*) 2023-DAPHNE programme, and by the Bodossaki Foundation and NGO Support Centre (10% funding rate), with the total grant amounting to €2.3 million.
